Welcome, and thank you for finding your way here.
This blog exists as the central home for Tales of Stattendor, a sword-and-shield fantasy project that spans comics, prose fiction, and future audio, written, and narrative works. Whether you are arriving here after reading the comics, discovering the world for the first time, or following the project’s development, this site is designed to help you explore the setting at your own pace.
What Is Tales of Stattendor?
Tales of Stattendor is a shared fantasy world set across coastal kingdoms, contested islands, and small towns that often find themselves caught in the path of larger powers. The stories told within it range from intimate character moments to political conflicts and historical turning points.
Rather than following a single cast or timeline, Stattendor is built as a living world. Different stories focus on different places, people, and eras, but they all take place within the same continuity and influence one another over time.
The Connection to the Comics
The Tales of Stattendor comics are one of the primary ways this world is explored. They focus on specific characters and storylines, presenting key events in a visual, serialised format.
This blog does not replace the comics. Instead, it complements them by:
• Expanding on locations, cultures, and histories seen in the panels
• Exploring side characters who may only briefly appear in the comics
• Providing background events that shape the world before, during, or after the comic narratives
You do not need to have read the comics to enjoy the material here, but readers familiar with them may recognise names, places, and consequences carrying over between formats.
The Shared World Approach
All stories published here take place within the same setting as the comics and related works.
Some entries will connect directly to established events. Others will stand alone, offering glimpses of everyday life, regional conflict, or local legend. Together, they help build a sense of scale and history across Stattendor.
Where relevant, posts will indicate whether a story is:
• Fully canon
• A legend or myth within the world
• A marginal or character-focused tale that enriches the setting without advancing a major plot
This allows the world to feel layered, contradictory, and lived-in, much like a real historical record.
Short Stories and Serials on This Blog
This blog will periodically publish short stories and short serials set in Stattendor.
These pieces are intentionally shorter than full novels and are designed to:
• Explore ideas or characters that do not require a full book or comic
• Experiment with tone, genre, or point of view
• Introduce regions or conflicts that may become important later
Some stories may be released in a single post. Others may unfold across multiple entries as limited serials. Each will be clearly labelled so readers can follow along easily.
These stories are part of the wider world, but they are written to be approachable whether you are a long-time reader or completely new.
Supporting the Author
Tales of Stattendor is written and created by James David (Me). The project is developed independently and supported in large part by readers.
If you would like to help sustain the series, you can support James on Patreon. Patrons help make it possible to continue producing comics, fiction, and new material set in Stattendor, and may receive access to:
• Early looks at new work
• Exclusive stories or lore entries
• Behind-the-scenes updates on current and future projects
Support is entirely optional but always appreciated.
How to Use This Site
You are free to explore in whatever order suits you best. Over time, the site will include:
• World and lore entries
• Character-focused pieces
• Short fiction and serialised stories
• Project updates and behind-the-scenes notes
Navigation pages and labels will help guide readers toward areas of interest as the archive grows.
Looking Ahead
Tales of Stattendor is an ongoing project, and this blog will grow alongside it. New posts will be added deliberately rather than frequently, with an emphasis on clarity, consistency, and worldbuilding over volume.
Thank you for reading, and welcome to Stattendor.
