Stories and Legends

As a child, I often read recollective stories of Greek mythology and always wondered if the stories of heroes and their adventures travelled throughout the mythical Greek world. I always wondered if people knew about the fate of Tantalus and if others remembered the Trojan war along with the wooden horse they created to break the siege.

Given the world of Stattendor is vast and that adventuring is a common profession for those seeking glory and fortune, I always wondered how that would make the world and the people within it feel. With so many ragtag adventures travelling the world trying to find their way as well as making names for themselves, the stories that follow in their week must be something remarkable to hear about. It could inspire others to do the same but might also send ripples of disruption throughout the societies of the Successor Kingdoms. With so many stories, myths, legends, and idle gossip reverberating throughout the world, which stories should be told, and which should not? I asked myself this question many times when jotting down ideas for the next major story. Who should the main characters be? Where should they be? What should they be doing? This recurring question made me realise I would have to change the original format for the comic book series to then another. Transforming my single comic medium into a shared universe across different mediums allowed me to reassess my plan.

Tales of Stattendor comics would be the focus of the progression of the series. Alongside the comics would be the companion series which I dubbed Tales of Stattendor: Legends. This series would comprise several standalone novels featuring characters and events throughout the Successor Kingdoms and, once the map has expanded, to the lands beyond. The story I started the Legends series with was titled Orangeleaf and it focused on Sir Fablen Orangleaf as he undertakes a rescue. When I first uploaded Orangeleaf onto Amazon I wasn’t sure what people would think of it or if people would even read it, luckily, I plan on it being the first in a long line of novellas which serve as companions to my comic books. It’s also possible that some of these characters from Legends might be appearing in future issues of the comics as well as figures in the comics having their own Legends novels. Which characters will and won’t be subject to votes via my offices Patreon page. Those who subscribe will be able to decide which characters will have their own Legends novels in the future so if you want to make that choice, make sure you subscribe.

Some of the novels I’ve planned for as there are some stories which I have been dying to tell for a while. What these stories will be and what will happen, well, you’ll all have to wait and see. The world of Stattendor itself is filled with legends and stories which preceded the current civilisations. How many of them are true or if they are accurate, once again, are yet to be seen or uncovered. If certain characters start to investigate these stories of old, they might be surprised what they uncover.
